Some people claim it to happen due to "lions mane (or reishi) being a 5-alpha reductase inhibitor." but the reality is that we do not know Reishi or Lions Mane's 5-AR inhibitory activities in humans. It's never been studied. There are a couple small in-vitro studies showing Reishi having some 5-ARI activity in rat prostate/liver cells (in-vitro meaning OUTSIDE of a living organism ie in a petri dish), but that does not give us enough reason to conclude "mushrooms inhibit 5-AR in humans" nor is it justifiable to go around telling everyone it'll "ruin your manhood." Although there's some anecdote on Reddit about people who experienced lowered libido, there is FAR more anecdote of people who take a reishi or lions mane extract and actually experience enhanced libido or a neutral effect. It's fine to report anecdote and say "hey, this did this to me" and to share that with others - but it is irresponsible to start parroting claims that have virtually zero evidence behind them (or at least very weak preliminary evidence). The only way to know if it affects you is if you try.
