Pharmaceutical company AvKare is voluntarily recalling two of its drugs after accidentally packaging an erectile dysfunction pill with an antidepressant. The Tennessee-based company blamed the “product mix-up” of the Sildenafil 100 mg tablets and the Trazodone 100mg tablets on the bottling process at a third-party facility. Unintentional consumption of Sildenafil, the active ingredient in Viagra, can lower blood pressure to dangerous levels if mixed with certain other prescriptions, according to the FDA. Conversely, accidentally taking Trazodone can cause somnolence/sedation, dizziness, constipation and blurred vision. AvKARE said it has not received reports of any negative side effects yet. The lots being recalled are sildenafil 100 mg tablet Lot 36884 with an expiration date of 03/2022 and trazodone hydrochloride 100 mg tablet lot 36783 with an expiration date of 06/2022. Consumers with questions regarding this recall are asked to call AvKARE at 1-855-361-3993. Anyone who believes they are suffering related symptoms should call their physician or healthcare provider.
