PCOS, or polycystic ovarian syndrome is a very complicated process and it actually affects almost every major system in the body including your ability to lose weight. A lot of women with PCOS find that they have a harder time losing weight although all of the data says that weight loss guidance for women with PCOS are the same for those who don't have it: diet and exercise. So you asked a really good question. If you have PCOS, what do you do to lose or maintain weight if good eating habits and exercise aren't helping? It would be best to talk to your doctor because they know the specifics of your individual case of PCOS and they can discuss what weight loss goals are appropriate for you because studies have shown that a slight decrease in weight can actually have huge benefits on your body. It can help women with PCOS, who have previously not been able to ovulate and get pregnant, get pregnant. It can help lower cholesterol and blood pressure and all other sorts of things just a few pounds at a time. The doctor can help you set realistic goals and they can talk to you about what your eating habits have been, what your exercise habits have been, and help modify those if there are changes to be made to help you be more successful at what you've already got going on. It's important, generally speaking though, when you're losing weight to, like I said, first make realistic goals and choose a diet plan that's going to actually work for you and be realistic. There's a lot of fad diets out there that aren't proven to be effective and some bad diets out there can actually be harmful for people or promise that you'll lose a ton of weight really quickly and even if you were able to do that, it's not necessarily helpful for your body. Again, talk to your doctor. They can discuss specifics with you and decide what modifications can be made in order to help you meet your goals.
