Counting calories/working out your macros is the best way to start trying to lose weight, but don't assume that this is an exact science. And don't assume that someone who isn't losing weight is 'just lazy'. While counting calories is a good place to start, it's not the be all and end all. And your active metabolic rate is a guestimate at best. These concepts don't take into account individual differences, such as differences in testosterone production, nutritional deficiencies, illnesses, sleep quality, lifestyle etc. If you have tried to lose weight by counting and you haven't had any success, then it's time to start thinking about the other factors that you may have missed out on. This post explores what some of those might be and how you can create a multi-pronged approach to body recomposition. And the same goes for hard-gainers!
