SILVER SPRING, MARYLAND — An advisory panel of the Food and Drug Administration has voted for the approval of Flibanserin, dubbed the female “Viagra”. The final decision will be made on August 18. Flibanserin may see its release after being rejected twice in past. Flibanserin does not work like Viagra, which increases blood flow. Instead, it affects the brain’s chemicals, increasing the sexual desire of women. In the clinical trials, the drug was highly successful in improving the sex lives of thousands of women who participated. However, rare cases of side effects such as nausea and low blood pressure were reported.
