Is eating less and exercising more really the best way to lose weight? ๐Ÿค” Itโ€™s ok that you think that. Itโ€™s what the gurus have been telling us for years. โ€œItโ€™s all about calories in, calories out.โ€ This theory assumes that your calories in and calories out are independent of each other. But thatโ€™s not true. ๐“๐ก๐ž๐ฒ ๐š๐ซ๐ž ๐๐ž๐ฉ๐ž๐ง๐๐ž๐ง๐ญ ๐ฏ๐š๐ซ๐ข๐š๐›๐ฅ๐ž๐ฌ. When you eat less, you burn less. When you burn more, you eat more. Youโ€™ve likely experienced this increase in appetite after a hard workout. Or a decline in your energy levels when youโ€™re eating fewer caloriesโ€ฆmaking good workouts hard to come by. If youโ€™ve fallen in the โ€œeat less, move moreโ€ trap weโ€™re willing to bet youโ€™ve been plateaued for 3 months or more with your weight loss. Your body has something called a set point weight. Itโ€™s the 5-10 pound range you canโ€™t seem to get below, no matter how hard you diet and exercise. This set weight isnโ€™t controlled by calories. Itโ€™s controlled by insulin.
