Glendora Chamber of Commerce Announces 2024 Citizens of the Year: Gary & Kathy Boyer

The Glendora Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce that longtime Glendora residents Gary & Kathy Boyer have been selected as the 2024 Glendora Citizens of the Year. Their unwavering dedication to community service and their impactful contributions to Glendora make them truly deserving of this honor.

Gary & Kathy will be formally recognized at the 75th Glendora Citizen of the Year Banquet, which will take place on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at the Glendora Country Club.

About Gary & Kathy Boyer
Gary Boyer has dedicated decades to community enrichment, leadership, and volunteerism. His notable contributions include serving on Glendora Mayor Sue Bauer’s Youth Committee, which led to the creation of the Skate Park at Finkbiner Park, Ole Hammer Park, and the Teen Center. His commitment to youth sports is equally remarkable, having served as President of the Glendora Youth Basketball League for 20 years, a basketball coach for over 30 years, and a board member of Glendora National Little League.

Beyond youth programs, Gary played a pivotal role in Glendora’s business community, chairing the effort to establish the Business Improvement District (BID) for downtown Glendora, which was approved in 2009. His leadership extends across numerous organizations, including serving on the Glendora Chamber Board of Directors, as a past president of Rotary, past president of the Glendora Community Coordinating Council, and serving nine years on the Glendora City Council. Gary’s deep commitment to the city is evident in his continuous involvement and advocacy for community betterment.

Equally devoted to service, Kathy Boyer has made a lasting impact through her selfless contributions. She has been a dedicated Meals on Wheels volunteer, an EYE-DAS board member, a Rotary board member, and an active board member of the Glendora Library Friends Foundation. Her passion for supporting children and families is evident in her volunteer work in her grandchildren’s classrooms and as a supporter of Warrior for Children, an organization committed to assisting children in need.

About the Glendora Citizen of the Year Award
The Glendora Chamber of Commerce proudly presents the Glendora Citizen of the Year Award, now in its 75th year. Each year, community groups and Glendora residents are invited to nominate individuals for this esteemed recognition. The criteria for selection include:

1. Contributions to the betterment of Glendora’s community welfare.
2. Active involvement in community, civic, Chamber, and governmental initiatives.
3. The enduring impact of services related to points (1) and (2).
4. Demonstrated personal leadership qualities.
5. A spirit of collaboration with both organizations and individuals.
